Austin R. Leve, M.D., of Rochester, New York, died on November 4, 2025, at FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, New York, at the age of 98 years.
Born in Rochester, New York, on April 23, 1927, Dr. Leve graduated from East High School, briefly served in the United States Navy following World War II, and received Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Rochester in 1949 and 1953, respectively. He practiced orthopedic surgery in Rochester for over 60 years.
Dr. Leve is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris London Leve, children, Sandra Stein (Richard Stein), Harold Leve (Robin Doerfler), Pamela Leve (Larry Hovey), and David Leve (Robin Buonomo), grandchildren, Aliza (Aaron), Evan (Christine), Alec, Jake, Jonah (Aimee), Merrick (Shauna), Emma (Robert), Jared, and William, great granddaughter, Maylee, nephews, Zvi Leve and Matthew Leve, and was predeceased by his parents, Harold R. Leve, M.D., and Eva Leve, brother, Lloyd Leve, M.D., and niece, Alison Leve.
The family will receive visitors during shiva at the family's home, 330 Fisher Road, Pittsford, New York 14534, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Dr. Leve may be made to the University of Rochester and directed to the Rochester Orthopaedic Society Resident Education and Training Fund (A13692). Contributions may be sent to:

What a great guy he was. Did knee surgery on me when I was 20? No issues 45 years later.
I always got a good giggle when I would see him either jogging or walking backwards down Fishers Rd.

We are so very sorry to hear of Austin´s passing. He was an interesting and enjoyable man, and a wonderful neighbor, when we were fortunate enough to be with him when he and Doris spent time in their Jupiter home. He had quite a sense of humor, with very interesting stories to share. A good man - we will miss him.
