Marcel J. Helou, aged 89, peacefully departed this world on Friday, December 8, 2023, surrounded by his cherished family at Pleasant View Communities in Manheim, PA. Born in Lodi, New Jersey, Marcel's journey led him from the vibrant streets of New York City to establishing a loving home in West Caldwell, NJ, with his devoted wife, Joan E. (Nevins) Helou. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past April.
Marcel's professional journey was marked by dedication and achievement. As a distinguished alumnus of Queens College, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and later pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Adelphi University. Marcel's illustrious career included numerous successes; however, his enduring impact was felt most profoundly during his tenure at Control Data Corporation, where he served as the Vice-President of Sales for the Ticketron and Automated Wagering divisions.
A proud veteran, Marcel served in the United States Army.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Joan, and their children: son James, husband of Jill Helou of Warrenton, Virginia; daughters Martine Helou of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Danielle, wife of Matthew Deck of Manheim, PA. Marcel's legacy extends to his nine cherished grandchildren, Justin, Peyton, Britton, Pierce, Keaton, Emily, Brady, Alexandra and Andrew.
Marcel was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Robert Helou. His memory will forever be a source of inspiration, and his impact on family, friends, and the professional world will be remembered with deep gratitude. May he rest in eternal peace.
