Marcella Marie Hammers

Marcella Marie Hammers, fondly known by all as Marcella, a beacon of loving generosity and faith, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at a Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. Born on September 15, 1943, in Butler County, KY, Marcella's radiant spirit and warm heart touched many lives during her beautiful journey of 81 years.
Celebrating the life she so vividly lived, Marcella leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her son, Troy Lee Lawrence (Deanna) of Morgantown, KY, and cherished by her four grandchildren, Shelly Flener (Trey), Dakota Lawrence (Grace), Ty Lawrence (Lindsey), all of Morgantown, and Dawson Phelps (Liv) of Richmond, KY. Her four great-grandchildren, Lane, Tate, Cooper, and Knox, will miss her nurturing presence and everlasting affection.
Marcella's memory will also be treasured by her four siblings, Raymond L. Phelps, Helen P. Henderson, David Phelps (Karen), and Charlie Phelps (Shannon), all of Morgantown, KY, along with several adoring nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Dean Hammers, her caring parents, Lester and Pauline Shepherd Phelps, and nine siblings; William Phelps, Nola Embry, Leo Phelps, Sara Lee, James "Big Jim" Phelps, Randell Phelps, Everett Phelps, Wendell "Nip" Phelps, and Martin Phelps.
Having retired from Building Systems, Marcella not only dedicated her professional life to excellence but also invested her heart and time in her association with the Belmont General Baptist Church. Her unwavering faith was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Marcella cherished simple pleasures; she found joy in gardening, nurturing her flowers, solving crossword puzzles, and cooking. However, nothing compared to the time she spent surrounded by her family. Those moments were her life's true delight and a source of profound happiness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 12:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel with Bro. T.J. Howard officiating, Burial will be in the Grant Phelps Cemetery where Dakota Lawrence, Ty Lawrence, Dawson Phelps, Trey Flener, Wayne Embry, Randy Phelps and Keegan Colgate will Serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 8:00 am until funeral time at 12:00 pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
