Marcella Radecki Obituary

Marcella (Marcy) Claire Radecki (nee Milanowski), age 86, of Grand Rapids, went to be with the Lord and join her husband, Deacon Richard Radecki, on April 4, 2025. She was preceded by her husband and parents, Al and Marcella Milanowski; her brother, Larry; and her daughter-in-law, Kris Radecki.

Marcy is survived by her children: David (Lori) Radecki, Daniel (Patti) Radecki, Mary (David) Koss, and John (Mary) Radecki; grandchildren: Andrew (Emily) Radecki, Beth (Steve) Strom, Jacob (Kelsey) Radecki, Rachel (Alex) Breu, Josh (Sam) Radecki, Alex Radecki, Nick Radecki, Matt Koss, and Noah Radecki; great-grandchildren: Caleb, Cecilia, and Gianna Radecki, Nolan and Colin Strom, and Lily Radecki; brothers Paul (Catherine) Milanowski, Tom Milanowski, and Don (Ann) Milanowski and their families; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Marcy graduated from Marywood Academy in 1956, and went on to receive her nursing license from Junior College in 1976. Marcy loved being a nurse. She worked for many years at Family Medicine Specialists. By her compassion for the sick and infirmed, she touched, helped, and guided so many people. Her role as a nurse led her to become involved with Stephen's Ministry for many years.

Marcy and Richard were members of St. Francis Xavier and St. Paul the Apostle churches. Their involvement in both parishes was rewarded with many life-long friendships.

Marcy's greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They called her "Bushie" (boo-she). Family get-togethers were her specialty. There were many fun times filled with games, laughter and pizza on Sunday nights. Marcy's signature dish was her golabki. She enjoyed baking sweet breads for others and enjoyed almost any type of cookie.
Marcy was a woman of deep faith and determination. She spent countless hours volunteering at Marywood, SFX school and church, and at St. Paul's church in various capacities. As a woman of faith, especially in her later years, she was our "prayer warrior." Marcy was one of those people everyone could depend on and readily answered the call to serve however and whenever she could help.

Mrs. Radecki was a volunteer playground supervisor at Saint Francis Xavier when I was a student there. She was such a good sport. And, I was such a stinker to her- always calling her "Marcy" instead of respectfully calling her Mrs. Radecki. It got to be our joke together. I would holler out, "Hi Marcy" and she would direct me to a time out space for a bit.
Then, after a while she would free me and we would have a good laugh. Her patience and kind spirit were always appreciated on the playground, though perhaps not in real time. She made a difference in the lives of the kids at recess and beyond. My thoughts and prayers are with my friend John (her son and my classmate) and all of the family.

We are so sorry for your loss. We were members of St Francis for many years and Marcy and Dick were such generous people with their time and talents. Heaven will be joyously receiving them. God´s blessings to your family.

Marcy was one of the first people we met, moving to Grand Rapids. It is a major event to lose a friend of 52 years; Our friendship was only strengthened with life challenges for both of us. We always felt we were part of Marcy & Dick's extended family. We felt blessed to share memorable events and just short conversations and laughter. The Mother's Day canoe trip, which I talked her into, was perhaps the most memorable. Marcy always looked forward to my phone calls, she and I felt we had mental telepathy. I would be thinking of her or visa versa. I will miss our conversations, usually in the evening after Dick passed because that was when she was most lonely, God has certainly welcomed Marcy to His Kingdom to be once again with Dick. I feel blessed to have been part of her life. I will truly miss her.

Marcy was a compassionate and caring woman , I worked with her at Family Medicine Specialists and have known her over 30 years. She was a great friend and cared for all. Our patients loved her and so many continued to ask for her even after she retired. Her faith and love of her family was never ending. She will be truly missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to her Family and friends.
