Marcia M. Lake, 59, of Ogallala, passed away on August 4, 2025, at her childhood home in Ogallala, surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer.
Marcia Marie Lake was born on November 28, 1965, in Grant, Nebraska, to Eldon Ray and Genice (Culver) Adams.
In 1985, Marcia married Cecil E. Lake, and they were blessed with three children, Dany, Casey, and Korey. The family made their home in and around western Nebraska, with notable stops in Grant and Mullen, before moving to Ogallala in 2018.
Marcia worked as a CNA for over 30 years, serving at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen, Golden Ours in Grant, and several other care facilities over the years. Most recently, she was thoroughly enjoying her retirement job, bartending, at Little Jerry's and Driftwood in Ogallala.
Marcia was fun-loving and quick-witted, always greeting people with a smile that hinted at her orneriness. She was known for her resourcefulness and knack for fixing just about anything. Marcia loved dancing, spending time at Admirals Cove, and at the lake in general. She was particular about her space, liked things in order, and had a special way of making people feel seen and appreciated. She enjoyed reading, and there seemingly wasn't a Hallmark movie or Netflix comedy she hadn't seen. Marcia was a fighter and had only recently been diagnosed with cancer in January.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Adams; her grandparents; nephew, Keith Adams; and uncles, Keith Gartrell, John Culver.
Survivors include her children, Dany Lake, Casey (Ethan) Behrends, and Korey Lake (Marcos Avalos); grandchildren, Macy and Braxton Keezer, and Bridger Behrends; her mother, Genice (Myron "Mike) Berry; brothers, George (Angie) Adams, and William Adams; aunts, Jane Culver and Janet Gartrell; niece and nephews, Wyatt, John, Brandi, and Seth; special friends, Courtney Rudel and Katie Sauer of Ogallala; along with a host of other relatives and friends who were dear to her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Willow and Oaks Event Center in Ogallala.
A memorial has been established in Marcia's memory for later designation. Online condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.
