Marcia Anne Leary
Of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 10, 2025, in her home at the age of 79.
Born on March 27, 1946, in Waltham, she was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick Leary and Thelma (Burns) Leary. Marcia was a lifelong resident of Waltham.
Marcia attended Waltham Schools and had been employed for many years at the Little, Brown Publishing Company in Waltham and later worked as a Nurse's Aide at the former Larchwood Lodge Nursing Home. Marcia had a natural gift for caring for others, especially the elderly, always offering kindness and compassion to those around her.
A true lover of nature, Marcia found joy in the simple beauty of the outdoors, particularly in watching and caring for birds. She was deeply spiritual and had a lifelong admiration for Elvis Presley, whose music brought her great comfort and joy.
Marcia was predeceased by her beloved parents, Fred and Thelma Leary; her devoted companion, Jonathan "Johnny" Nevins; and her dear siblings, Patricia "Patti" Johnston, Frederick "Fred" Leary, Carol Leary, and Jean Rudenauer, her loving nephews Michael Marshall and Marty, Freddy, Richie & David Johnston, and her birds "Yorkie, Patti and Carol".
Marcia is survived by her loving siblings, Mary Louise Hoffmann and her husband Lenny of Waltham, and Daniel Leary of Waltham; and by her cherished nieces and nephews Donna, Jessica, Cassandra, Karen, Jennifer, Melissa, Jaymie & Freddy Leary. She also leaves behind her closest friend and confidant, Shirley, her bird "Freddy" and her cat Gizmo "Gizzy."
Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather and remember the love, laughter, and friendship Marcia shared with so many during visiting hours in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM, on Thursday, October 16th, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A celebration of Marcia's life will begin at 7:30 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
