Marcina Ann Stapleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tyler M. Woods Funeral Director from Mar. 30 to Mar. 31, 2026.
Marcina Ann Stapleton gained her angel wings on March 11, 2026, at her home in Columbia, Mo. She was 76 years old. Marcy had a big personality and had an impact on each person she interacted with. She was courageous, organized, inspirational, kind, loving, funny, and a spicy ball of fire that showed us what can be accomplished with determination and persistence. She lived her life to the fullest, despite her many challenges. She was fiercely independent and private.

Marcy loved her entire family, prayed for them, worried about them, rooted for them, protected them, forgave them, and always kept on loving them. Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity. Even with little to spare, Marcy continued to give to and help others. Even when sick or in pain, she never faltered in caring for her loved ones more than she did for herself. She was known for taking in someone who needed a temporary home and making them feel like a part of her family.

She was known as the Hallmark card girl --she never forgot anyone's birthday or anniversary, and never left the store without her gold seals for the back of her cards. Marcy used themed address labels, stamps, and stickers to complete her correspondence.

Speaking of titles… she held a few in her day. Marcy been a devoted daughter, a Lancer graduate of 1967, mother, Vietnamese Airlift volunteer, room mother, loving wife, an Officers Wives' Club member, Arvin Meritor retiree, American Legion member, IBEW 1331 Union member, true and loyal friend, and a spoiling grandmother.

Marcy will be lovingly remembered by her children: Buffy Stapleton (Chris) of Columbia, MO.,, A.G. Jr. Stapleton (Tina) of Columbus, IN.; grandchildren; Stokley and Jaxsin Stapleton; brothers; Mike Sandefur (Brenda), Ronald Dean Streeval (Pam), Roger Griffith and Duane Griffith; sisters: Mona Bernard (Manfred), Vicki Burton (Malcom), Connie Medaris (Tim), Georgianna Waldrop and Sonja Streeval; goddaughter: Jordan Acton (Luke); special friends: Gayle Wooden and Roy Ervin; and many nieces and nephews.

She is joined in rest by her mother: Helen Streval; her father: Edward Griffith; honorary parents: Grace and Albert Trendleman; father of her children: A.G. Stapleton Sr.; mother-in-law: Mayme Ann Stapleton; grandmother: Nora McClean; brothers: Gene Goble and James Griffith; and sister: Carol Cooper; along with many other loved ones throughout her life.

In the end, remember, do your best, and never stop smiling. If you want to, you can look for her in the evening sunset or yellow roses, or amongst the fluttering butterflies. She will be there in one form or another. She will leave you with this…please do not cry because she's gone; instead, be happy that she was here.

Today she is happy, and is dancing and reunited with her dear family and friends that have passed. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life for Marcy will take place in June 2026 at the Separate Baptist Church in Edinburgh, Ind.

Those wishing to pay their respects and celebrate her life are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please send a card to friends and let them know how much they mean to you.
