Born in Farmington, New Mexico in 1974 to Raynel and Delfa Montaño, Marcus grew up with the love and support of a tight-knit group of siblings. Throughout his life, he was known for his kindness, his big heart and the deep loyalty he showed to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Marcos was a man who never met a stranger. His warmth and openness made everyone feel like family. He had an incredible ability to connect with others, and his generosity knew no bounds. If you ever needed help, Marcos would be the first to lend a hand, he would even give you the shirt off his back if it meant making someone else’s life a little easier.

He is survived by his children: Gina Sabo. Donnie Sabo, Isaac Stallings, Jacob Sabo, Marcos Jr. Montaño, and Ricardo Montaño-and his siblings, Claudette Montaño, Brenda and Albert Montoya, Anjelica and David Stevens, and Ray Montaño. He also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish the memories they made with him.

Marcos was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Renee, and though she is no longer with us, I’m sure they are together now, watching over us.

One thing that brought Marcos the most joy in life was spending time with his family. Whether it was simply sitting down for a meal, enjoying a conversation, or making memories during trips, like the fishing trips he loved so much in Durango, Colorado. His family was his world. Fishing wasn’t just a hobby to Marcos, it was a way to be in nature, to reflect, and to share quiet moments with the people he loved.

He found great joy in the simple things, being together, sharing meals, and creating memories. Marcos Favorite meals were more than just food, they were and excuse to gather, to laugh and to bond. Every meal was a reminder of the importance of love and connection.

Marcos will be deeply missed, not only by his immediate family but by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in his children, in his siblings, and in all of us who were touched by his generosity and his unwavering loyalty.

Although Marcos may no longer be with us physically, his spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched, the lessons he taught us, and the love he gave freely. We find comfort knowing that he kept his promises, that he without expecting anything in return, and that he left the world a little better just by being in it.

Rest in peace, Marcos. You were loved more than words can express and you will never be forgotten
