Marcus Ryan Cravens, 52, of
Texas City, TX, transitioned from labor to reward on May 19, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of honor, courage, and brute strength. Marcus Ryan Cravens, who was affectionately called "Ryan" by his family, was born in
Texas City, TX on December 4, 1971, to the late Isaac "Ike" and Marie Inez Cravens. Ryan, a class of 1991 La Marque High School graduate, excelled in welding. Earning a trip to the state welding competition. He also spent time in the family businesses, Tri-City, Cravens Mobile Service Station, and Cravens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. After graduation, Ryan became a welder for A&A Machine & Fabrication in LaMarque. Switching gears, Ryan became a long-haul driver for Schneider National Trucking Company, where he partnered with and travelled the country with his late brother Abner "Ab". Longing to be with his growing family, Ryan returned home to begin his career in law enforcement. Ryan worked for the Galveston County Juvenile Detention Center and Texas Department of Criminal Justice where he served as a Correctional Officer and later as a Sergeant. In pursuit of his career in law enforcement, Sgt Cravens attended the College of the Mainland Law Enforcement Academy. Upon graduation, he accepted his first job as a Texas Peace Officer with the College of the Mainland Police Department. Wanting to serve his home community, Sgt Cravens accepted a position with the La Marque Police Department. During his tenure with the La Marque Police Department, Sgt Cravens served in many roles. His most important role was being a mentor to many young officers. Beyond his professional life, Ryan was a life-long member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He loved to cook and held the title as "The Cravens family King of BBQ". Ryan enjoyed reading the Bible, spending time with his family, loving on his grandchildren and sitting on the porch with his fur baby, Maci.
Ryan is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Abner Cravens, and great-nephew, Nasir Astorga.
Ryan leaves with cherished memories of his life and legacy, wife, Alice Cravens; three daughters, Precious (Troy) Griggs, Christian Cravens, Olivia Cravens; grandchildren, Micayla, Myah, Trevor Griggs, Finley Ryan Mayeux; sister, Angela (Timothy, Sr) Porter; brothers, Kenneth (Caroline) Cravens, Jason Cravens; aunts, Leona St. Julien, Rosabelle Cravens, Dorothy Thibeaux; uncle, Landis (Francis) Cravens; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
