Marcus Duane Hinton of Friendswood, Texas fell asleep in death on January 5, 2023.
Marcus was born on October 5, 1958 to German and Vernell Hinton in Fort Huachuca, Arizona. His sister, Cynthia was born
shortly after and they shared a special bond that spanned from childhood until his last breath. Marcus' parents always
stressed the importance of family and encouraged Cynthia and Marcus to cherish their friendship, even helping them to
create a secret language that no one else could understand. As a child, he learned to play the piano and enjoyed the
privilege of playing at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Marcus and his sister were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses
in July 1973 in Houston, Texas. A few years later, he graduated from Ross Sterling High School in 1976. He began working
at the United States Postal Service that same year and was a dedicated employee. Marcus proved to be intelligent,
hard-working and responsible for the 40 years he worked for USPS.
Marcus met Cassandra at a convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and they later married on
November 14, 1987. Marcus and Cassandra welcomed two children to the family a few years later, and Marcus loved being
a father. He was an active father, teaching his girls about life and the things he was passionate about. He always made time
for his daughters, taking them fishing, riding bikes, playing Dominoes with them and more.
In his free time, Marcus enjoyed writing poetry, watching sports, and working on his blue 1982 GMC truck. He was especially passionate about music, gravitating to jazz music, r&b and oldies. He always shared memories of his life with his family, especially of his beloved mom, Vernell. His mother was his world. He was also especially appreciative of the impact his Uncle Charles and Aunt Hattie had on his life, always caring for them. Marcus looked forward to being reunited with his
mother and others he lost in death on a Paradise earth without sickness and death.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Cassandra, his daughters, Dyvas Hinton and Rhanda Crum (Justin), his sister Cynthia Fields
(Jenoah), a grandson Sean Robinson, and many Lauderdale cousins who felt like siblings- Verna, Linda Mae, Evelyn, Ruby,
Sherry, Princella, Charles III, Sylvester, and James. Marcus is preceded in death by his parents German and Vernell Hinton,
as well as other close family members.
