Marcus Hournbuckle, 36 of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away on July 1, 2025, from complications of diabetes and kidney failure.

Mr. Hournbuckle was born on October 13, 1988 in Hobbs, New Mexico.

He had a sense of humor even during the hard times of managing his health complications. He was the source of giggles and was up lifting. He always wore funny shirts. He loved collecting Manga, playing Dungeons and Dragons and video games. He also loved cooking and would try different things creating new recipes. He was a member of amtgard and planned to attend the clan meeting in Mayhill in July. His amtgard name was Kazon Ras.

Marcus graduated from Hobbs High School in 2007. He was a percussionist in the high school band and participated in culinary classes. He had dreams of being a child therapist or a chef. He was a pressman at the Hobbs News-Sun for about 12 years. He loved animals and had two cats, Remington and Marnie, and a dog, Willow. Marcus loved to dress up in his amtgard clothes and in beret's or kilts. He would take family trips to renaissance fairs with his sister, Kailea, his dad, Curtis and his mom Paula. He was a momma's boy. She passed away in 2019.

Marcus is survived by his dad: Curtis Hournbuckle. Sister: Kailea Hournbuckle. Aunt: Shawna Dawkins and her husband Charles. Aunt: Alta Peden and her husband Ole. Uncle: Kenny Hournbuckle. Uncle: Lonnie Hourbuckle and wife Denise. Uncle: Kelly Hournbuckle. Best friend: Chris Vowell and numerous cousins and friends.

Marcus was preceded in death by his mother: Paula Hourbuckle. Grandmother: Yvonne Ousley. Grandmother: Beverly Hournbuckle and grandfather, David Hournbuckle.

A combined funeral service for Marcus and his grandmother, Yvonne Ousley will be at 10 a.m. on July 26, 2025 at Church of the Nazarene in Hobbs.

Services are under the direction of Calvary Memorial Funeral Home of Hobbs, New Mexico.
