Mark Kitch, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 16, 2025, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 73. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on November 19, 1951, to Marcus and Virginia (Spotts) Kitch, Mark lived a life full of passion, joy, and love.
A 1969 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School in Sedalia, Missouri, Mark went on to marry the love of his life, Kay, on June 30, 1973. Together, they raised two sons, Grant (Adriane) Kitch and Derek Kitch, whom he cherished deeply.
Mark was an avid outdoorsman, and his happiest moments were spent in nature. His favorite place on Earth was in his duck blind in northern Missouri, where he could be found enjoying the peace of the outdoors. He also had a deep love for fishing, especially in the lakes of northern Minnesota. His free time was often spent reading western novels, watching football (he was a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan), and enjoying racing and old cars. Above all, Mark loved spending time with his loyal dog, Layla Mae, who was by his side for many years.
Mark spent much of his career in the automotive industry working in sales and management roles. Known for his dedication and skill, he built lasting relationships with coworkers and customers alike.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; his sons, Grant (Adriane) Kitch and Derek Kitch; his sister, Marsha (John) Urton; his sister in-law Donna Leiter; his grandchildren; his nephews and their families; and his faithful dog, Layla Mae. Mark was preceded in death by his parents Marcus and Virginia (Spotts) Kitch; his sister, Susan Kitch; and sister in-law Dorothy (Doug) Pack.
Mark will be remembered for his warmth, his love of life, and his unwavering commitment to his family. He touched the lives of all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday November 16th from 1pm - 4pm at the Moss Building (1905 Hillcrest Dr, Columbia, Mo, 65201).
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory, 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, MO 65203 (573) 449-4153. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.millardfamilychapels.com
