Margaret Ann Rushing Luther, 94, of Lula, Georgia, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, at Florence Hand Home in LaGrange, GA.
She was born in Lula, GA to Noah and Kate Rushing. Her father worked in road construction and Margaret moved across the state with her family several times, collecting lively stories at every turn. Margaret was a feisty and fun-loving soul - the friend you always hoped to have. She collected friends all along her life to the very end. Even when her body was physically limited, Margaret continued to encourage everyone she met.
Though she did not have children of her own, she thoughtfully and loyally cared for many people. There is no way to measure the number of calls, cards and letters Margaret sent over her lifetime. Margaret also loved her hometown of Lula and spent many happy days helping with the Lula Area Betterment Association’s programs like Railroad Days or the Lula Historical Society.
Margaret loved music, especially worshipping with her church family. She attended church throughout her life and played piano and organ periodically for the churches she attended. Some of Margaret’s fondest memories were of church services, revivals, or camp meetings - wherever Christian brothers and sisters were gathering and glorifying the Lord.
Margaret’s greatest love and firm anchor in life is Jesus Christ, in whose presence she now stands.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents and late husband, Henry “Luke” Luther, Sr. She is preceded by her brother, NL Rushing and his wife, Jo. She is survived by her niece, Melinda Rushing and Melinda’s husband, Steve. She is also preceded in death by Joseph Douglas “Doug” Morris, who was her first cousin and survived by his wife, Martha, and their children, Tara (Matthew) Barrett and Joseph (Linda) Morris and their children.
