Margaret Ann Austin
Today we celebrate the life and legacy of a remarkable soul, Margaret Ann Austin, affectionately known to us all as Grandma. Born on the 27th of October in the year of our Lord 1948, in Biloxi, Mississippi to Alma Johnson and Marvin Harrell. She was a beacon of light and love throughout her blessed 75 years on this earth. On the 4th of September 2024, in the town of
Corsicana, Texas, Grandma Margaret was called home by the Lord, departing this life due to natural causes. Margaret was a woman of unwavering faith and boundless love. She walked through this world with the grace and strength bestowed upon her by her Creator, dedicating her life to the service of her family and her community. Though she was preceded in death by her dear husband, Jerry Lamar Austin, and her beloved children, Robbie and Bobbie Austin and Samantha Austin, her sister Carolyn Lung, brother Michael Harrell. Margaret's love and memory live on through her surviving son, Glenn Lamar Austin Sr., daughter Terrissa Austin, daughter Jerrie Lynn Austin, brother James Harrell, sister Tina Ziegler, sister Mary Brown, as well as her cherished eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
As a homemaker and caregiver, Margaret devoted her life to the nurturing and upbringing of her family. She was the cornerstone of her household, providing not only care but also comfort and wisdom to all who crossed her threshold. Her hands, though often busy with the tasks of daily life, were never too full to embrace a child in need of love or to clasp in prayer for someone in need. Grandma Margaret's love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. An avid churchgoer, she filled the pews with her presence and the heavens with her praises. Her voice, raised in song to the tunes of gospel music, was a testament to her faith-filled spirit. She was an example to many, teaching us all that to walk in the light of God is to truly see the beauty in every one of His creations. Her generosity knew no bounds. Margaret gave of herself freely and without expectation of return. She was selfless in her actions, always placing the needs of others before her own. She embodied the very essence of Christian love and charity, touching the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. In moments of hardship and trial, it was Grandma Margaret's steadfast belief that carried us through. Her faith was unshakeable, her resolve unbreakable, and her spirit indomitable.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, let us remember the lessons she imparted through her life. Let us hold fast to the memories we shared, the laughter that filled our homes, and the love that she spread so effortlessly. Margaret Ann Austin's legacy is one of devotion, both to her family and to her faith. It is now upon us to carry forward this legacy, to live as she lived, with generosity, faith, and a selfless heart. Today, as we commend her spirit to the Almighty, let us rejoice in the knowledge that Grandma Margaret has found her eternal rest in the arms of our Savior. She has fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the faith. Now, there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her on that day. We will miss Grandma Margaret's earthly presence, but we take solace in the promise of reunion in the Kingdom of Heaven. Until we meet again, let us carry her memory in our hearts and live in a manner that honors her remarkable journey. Go in peace, dear Margaret Ann Austin, and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. Amen.
