Margaret M. Coogan

Margaret "Peggy" M. Coogan, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Raymond J. Coogan. Born in Providence to the late James and Hannah (Sheehan) Murphy, Peggy is survived by her loving children, Margaret Carlson and her husband Robert, and Raymond Coogan and his wife Colleen.
She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Kellie Costner, Hannah Wright, and Erin Avalos; and her treasured great-grandchildren Luke Avalos, Selah Wright, and Riley and Jackson Costner. Peggy was predeceased by her beloved daughter Carol McCann and her husband Stephen McCann, as well as her siblings James Murphy, Daniel Murphy, Barbara Poirier, and Kevin Murphy.
Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend; someone whose bright blue eyes always carried a twinkle and whose easy laugh made everyone feel welcome. After settling in Warwick more than sixty years ago, she became a devoted parishioner of St. Rose & Clement Church for over five decades. Family was always at the center of her life, whether providing for them through her work at New England Telephone or welcoming her grandchildren with home-cooked meals and cherished birthday parties. Peggy gave her love freely and wholeheartedly.
She will be remembered for her stoic nature, quick wit, and inner strength, qualities that shone especially brightly as she raised her three young children after her husband's untimely passing. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed driving to Oakland Beach or Conimicut Point, solving online puzzles, and sharing a cup of tea with lifelong friends.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 9:30am to 10:30am in The Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Rose & Clement Church, 111 Long St, Warwick. Her burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
