Margaret Snoddy Culclasure of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 107. Born May 21, 1918, Margaret was the daughter of the late Samuel Miller Snoddy and Leila Dunlap Snoddy. She was a 1936 graduate of Wellford Lyman Tucapau High School in Wellford, SC. Several years following graduation and in the midst of WWII, Margaret married James Wesley Culclasure on April 5, 1941. They made their home in the Greer community. While her husband was deployed during WWII, she drove the school bus for her community school. After the war, she became a full-time, devoted mother to their daughter, Ann Culclasure Campbell (Tommy).
Following James’ death in 1970, Margaret began working as an assistant at the Spartanburg County Library. She was actively involved in her community as a volunteer with Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and as an active member of both the Daughters of the American Revolution (Kate Berry Chapter) and the Huguenot Society of South Carolina. She was also a faithful and long-standing member of Nazareth Presbyterian Church in Moore, SC.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two grandchildren, Molly Campbell Barker (Lane) of Simpsonville, SC, and John James Campbell (Melanie) of Pauline, SC, as well as three great-grandchildren: Pressley Ann Campbell, Shelby Elizabeth Barker, and Thomas Lane Barker. She also adored several generations of nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents; her four siblings, Robert Snoddy, Mary Snoddy, James Snoddy, and Joan Snoddy Hoffmeyer; and a great-granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Campbell.
Margaret was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. Her faith, generosity, and steadfast commitment to learning never waned. She remained curious, loved to read, and actively engaged in her community and in the lives of her family. Margaret leaves behind a legacy of resilience, service, and devotion. Her long life stands as a testament to her faith and family. She will be remembered with deep affection and profound gratitude by all who were blessed to know her.
Services will be conducted by the Reverend Julie Schaaf at Nazareth Presbyterian Church in Moore, SC, on Friday, December 5, at 2 p.m. Immediately following the service, the burial will be held in the historic Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the burial.
The family will be at the home of Tommy and Ann Campbell in Woodruff, SC. The family wishes to express deep appreciation for the love and support from her devoted caregivers and her compassionate team at White Oak at North Grove.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nazareth Presbyterian Church Missions – The Carpenter’s Table and to Mobile Meals of Spartanburg.
