Avis Annette Whitworth a sweet southern Christian lady entered her Heavenly home at the age of 90 on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospice House.
Annette was born in Seneca, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Edward “Eddie” Weathers and the late Avis Higginbotham Weathers. She was also preceded in death by a sister: Virginia Luther; and a brother: Kenneth Weathers.
Annette was a graduate of High Point University and attended under a full Basketball Scholarship. She then had a successful career as an administrator with the University of South Carolina Gamecock Club. She loved her football and the Gamecocks. She found herself cheering for the Clemson Tigers after her two grandsons started studying at Clemson University. She loved her family dearly and her grandsons enlightened her with a lot of joy and cheer. She will be remembered for her warm heart and her pecan pies on the holidays. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her many memories are her sons and daughters-in-law: Bill and Jan Whitworth and David and Theresa Whitworth; four grandchildren: Austin Whitworth (Sami), Zac Whitworth (Marissa), Sean Whitworth, and Savan Whitworth.
The family will receive friends between 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at J.F. Floyd Mortuary; 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. The funeral service to honor Annette’s life will begin at 12:30 following the visitation. Rev. Tommy Sparks will officiate the service with the entombment following the service at Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca, SC.
Annette’s memories will continue to live in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorials made in Annette’s memory to Fairview Baptist Church, 4350 NC-226, Bostic NC 28018.
