Today, we say farewell to our dear mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Margaret Rose (Selix) Davis, who arrived to this world on October 17, 1962, in Alice, TX. and departed after sixty years on September 19, 2023.
Margaret saw herself as a loving mother, always thinking of her children first. She enjoyed cooking and hosting family and friends whenever they were near and never walked away from a good card game whether it was Uno, War, Hearts, Books, Spoons, or 10,000. We all have card stories to share!
Margaret loved country music and began songwriting at the early age of ten and later taught herself to play the guitar, writing many songs with her dad. When not singing, Margaret loved thrifting and finding unique pieces, but her favorite was making glass art by collecting antique pieces and attaching them together in various ways to create unique glass centerpieces. She also had a knack for collecting antiques in general and enjoyed the "hunt" and "find" of antiquing.
Margaret's heart knew no boundaries; she was always the first to help those in need. She often reached out to encourage others, knowing that God and Jesus could help anyone who believed. Margaret believed in her faith, knowing that one day–this day– "He would take her to His mansion in the sky."
Margaret Rose is survived by her sons, Brad Davis and his wife, Kelly, of Lumberton and Michael Davis of Kountze; her brother, Richard Selix of Vilonia, Arkansas; sisters, Karen Selix of Malvern, Arkansas; Marilyn Fritts of Vilonia, Arkansas; and Jodi Roed and her husband, Peter, of Alma, Michigan, sister-in-law, Doris Davis of Bryan, TX; daughter-in-law, Amanda Bones and her husband, Shannon; her grandchildren, Josie Davis, Jaythan Davis, Calie Davis, Dominic Davis, and Axel Bones; nieces and nephews include, Mark Gassiot; Sherry Glover; Thomas Johnston; Alvin Bollom and his wife, Jenny; Dawn Selix; Charity Selix; Leroy Selix and his wife, Alisha; Forrest Selix and McKenzie; Eric Tays; Clifton Tays; Josh Fritts; Jared Fritts and his wife, Nicole; William Fritts; Hayden Fritts and his wife, Kaitlyn; and Audrey Roed; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Margaret Rose is preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Mary Selix; sister, Jennifer Johnston; brother, Roy Selix; nieces, Laurie Corder and Meagan Fritts; and nephews, Randy Jones and Chris Corder.
A gathering of Margaret's family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Broussard's Funeral Home, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her internment will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
