It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Fay Mayeux Dupree, a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a cherished family member, who passed away on Wednesday, March 26,2025 at the age of 87 in
Houston, Texas.
Born on July 02, 1937 in Bunkie, Louisiana. Margaret was the daughter of Orelian and Alice Mayeux. From a young age, she had a nurturing personality, beautiful heart and loving soul. Growing up in a small town; she attended Bunkie High School where she enjoyed playing the French horn in her high school band. She graduated in 1954, and shortly after met the love of her life, Perry Dupree. They began dating and she was infatuated with listening and watching Perry play the guitar and sing in his band on Friday nights. Any opportunity they had you could find them dancing the night away at The Colonial Night Club.
Margrette had a passion for cooking and baking. Her homestyle cooking was passed down through generations of her mother's family. Steak, rice, and gravy was her specialty and she made the best gingerbread in town! She loved baking cakes for her nieces and nephew's birthdays and later for her own family for many years. Store-bought desserts didn't stand a chance in her household.
She was one of a kind and certainly a person you couldn't forget once you met her. Her commitment to the Lord was contagious and she was inspired and saved in 1968. From there on, she and Perry dedicated themselves to being disciples of the Lord and attended Highland Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana.
Margret worked as a waitress at JC Penny's coffee shop the day it opened. She was passionate about serving customers and was very loyal. When the coffee shop closed, she found her new passion at The Harrison Equipment Company where she created and executed valves for the oil and gas companies. She was employed there for 13 years till the company went out of business. Afterwards, she decided to become a stay at home mom and raise her 3 sons, Gary, Mark and Joey Dupree.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Orelian and Alice Mayeux, her sisters: Odell Ducote, Theresa King, Irma Mayeax, Lilly Gauthier, her brother: John Mayeux, and her son: Gary Dupree.
She is survived by her loving husband, Perry Dupree, her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Joey and Vonda Dupree, and Mark and Sylvia Dupree. She had four grandchildren: Natalie Elmblad (husband Ross Elmblad), Lelia De La Cruz, Crystal Dupree and Crystie Guevara (husband Brice Guevara). She had five great grandchildren: Daniella De La Cruz, Dylan De La Cruz, Jack Elmblad, Charlie Elmblad, and Brayden Weatherford.
Margret will be remembered and missed most for the beautiful person she was, and the legacy she leaves behind teaching us to always be kind, never give up, and remember what the Lord tells us in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
