Margaret A. “Peg” Hackman, 81, of Ephrata, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Jane Weaver Hess. She was the loving wife of the late Kenneth L. Hackman who passed away in 2019. Peg worked as a sewing machine mechanic for the former Walter Moyer Company, Ephrata. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
Surviving are children; Nanette wife of Paul Strauss of Lititz, Sherry Minnich companion of Chuck Trate, Jr. of Birdsboro, Randall husband of Mari Ann Smeltzer of Lancaster, Paul D. Smeltzer of WV, two step-sons, Barry and James Hackman, five grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two step-great grandchildren, a brother, Jack Hess of Morgantown, and a sister, Mary Lou Wenger of Duncannon. She was preceded in death by a brother, Doug Hess and a sister, Jane Anderson.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
