MARGARET P. HOOPER
Henderson, TN: Margaret Pauline Francis Hooper, age 78, passed away May 19, 2024, at her home.
She was born December 9, 1945, in Jackson, TN, the daughter of the late Bertram Francis, Sr. and Luna Muriel Bledsoe Francis. She graduated from Jackson High School and West TN Business College. She worked for an ENT doctor as a bookkeeper for two years; worked for Dr. Robert Barnett for nine years; for JACOA for seventeen years, starting as receptionist and finishing as office manager. She moved to Colorado and worked at a Ski Resort for a year; moved to MS and worked for four years for a GI doctor before moving back to Jackson in 1997 and worked for a Cardiologist until 2003. Finally, she worked at Western State in Bolivar for thirteen years, retiring in 2018.
She married Tom Hooper on February 16, 1993.
She was member of the Bethel Baptist Church and truly loved her church. She also was a sports fan especially the Memphis Grizzlies and UT Sports.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Nana”.
Mrs. Hooper is survived by her husband, Tom Hooper of Henderson; two sons, Jimmie ‘Bo’ Scott (Lena) of Jackson and Jeremy A. Scott (Jennifer) of Henderson; a nephew that she raised as a son, Bertram Francis, III, of Henderson; six grandchildren, Jacob Scott, Christian Francis, Bennett Francis, Dylan Authers, Brittany Terry and Karlee Hooper and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 22nd, at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Crook Avenue 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday and from 12:00 – 2:00 PM Wednesday at the church.
