Margaret Horvath

Margaret Mary "Marge" Horvath, of Hamden, passed away on Monday, December 29th, 2025, at the Yale New Haven Hospital-St. Raphael Campus. She was born in New Haven on August 13th, 1935, the only child of the late Joseph and Irma Szabo Horvath. She is survived by several cousins and friends whom she adored, especially her cousin Mark Horvath, his wife Sue, and their children David and Megan, who were always there for her. Marge graduated from Wilbur Cross High School and lived in New Haven until she and her mother moved to Hamden in 1959. Marge spent more than 50 years in the insurance industry; as a producer, consultant, agency owner and after retirement, a liability claims adjuster. She received numerous designations and awards during that time. Marge also served as President of the National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW). Marge was an accomplished figure skater and in later years an avid golfer. She was a huge UCONN Women's Basketball fan. She had a great sense of humor; loved to entertain, travel and volunteer. The visiting hour will be Friday, January 2nd, 2026, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
