Margaret Agnes Kafka

On April 28, 2024, Margaret "Margie" Agnes Kafka, 69 years young, peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of her family. Margie was born March 2, 1955, to John Francis Kafka and Margaret Alice Kafka (Fuhrer), both of whom had predeceased her. She was the only girl to a family of four children. Margie is predeceased by her brother Charles and is survived by brothers, John, and Edward. Margie had married twice but was currently divorced. She leaves behind her only child, a daughter, Maria Moore, a son-in-love, Will, and three grandchildren: Courtney, William, and Jayden. Additionally, Margie will be missed by niece and nephews, Russell, Julie, Michael, and Robert.
Margie was born and raised in Baltimore. In 2020, she moved to South Carolina in 2020 to be with her daughter and family. Margie graduated from Archbishop Keough In 1974. While at Keough, she participated in cheerleading, gymnastics, drama, badminton, and bowling, to name a few. One of Margie's mottos, even noted in her yearbook was, "All the world's a stage." She had quite the personality and certainly lived up to those words. She was very proud of her years at Keough and has remained friends with a few of them. She is fondly remembered by classmates for her love of God, outgoing personality, and beautiful smile.
When one thinks of Margie, the word "fashionista" would come to mind. She was always dressed to impress and put together with class and sophistication. She always had a fashion magazine within arm's length. The same year Margie graduated from high school she also graduated from Barbizon School of Modeling. In the late 1970's, she held the titles of Miss County Fair and was runner up for Miss Fitness and Miss Baltimore World. Margie could regularly be seen in the newspapers, whether for her Pageants or the work she did for her family's business, Polock Johnnys.
Margie loved Polock Johnny's and everything about it! She worked in the family business from high school until her passing. Margie had fond memories of working alongside her father and talking with her great grandfather, learning all about the business. She had worked in every facet of the business over her years, enjoying the customer interaction the most. She was a ham and loved to make a show when serving her customers. She loved her employees and made working for her enjoyable, made-up songs were not uncommon to hear her singing. One of her greatest achievements was being able to see Polock Johnny's hit 100 years in Baltimore. She loved the city; it was in her blood! She was known to many around Baltimore as "the Hat Lady", because of her various fashionable hats.
Margie never stopped; she was always on the go. She always had something to do. She took classes at the College of Notre Dame at one point. She had a stint where she worked interior design at Thomasville Galleries, but PJ's was her passion. She loved a DIY project, never afraid to refinish a piece of furniture or tear down a wall in her house. Nothing intimidated her.
Margie really enjoyed acting. In the late 1980's, she performed with the Matthew Players. She had her daughter join her when she appeared in "Anything Goes". She enjoyed everything about the theater. She loved the make-up, costumes, sets, singing, dancing, and acting. If she wasn't able to perform in a play, she loved to attend them. She enjoyed attending performances in Baltimore and New York.
Margie was a devout and faithful Christian woman. She could regularly be heard sharing her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She enjoyed reading her Bible every day and listening to gospel music. She is in eternal happiness, with no anxiety.
Margie will be sorely missed by many. She had an outgoing personality and loved fiercely. She enjoyed living in South Carolina with her daughter and grandchildren. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. Margie was one of a kind and will certainly be irreplaceable.
