John Philip Ferrandino, 51, of Ashburn, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as the result of a tragic accident. His presence filled every room with light - and that light will live on in all who loved him.
John was born in Syosset, New York, and from his first steps, he seemed destined for the soccer field. He was dedicated, loyal, and true - whether on the field, in his friendships, or with his family. His love and talent for the game brought him to Virginia at the age of eighteen, where he played Division I men's soccer for the George Mason University Patriots. He was later inducted into the George Mason University Athletics Hall of Fame - a recognition that brought him immense pride and happiness.
Following college, John built a successful career as a technology sales executive, where he connected with so many not only as a colleague but also as a friend. His ability to build lasting relationships, both professional and personal, was a reflection of his sincerity and generosity of spirit.
While many knew John for his talent on the field and his gift for connecting with people, few knew he could whistle most popular songs in perfect pitch. Though it might have pointed to a career in music, John never gave that a thought - he was far too busy entertaining everyone for free. Those who knew him best also knew that while John could bring a room to tears with laughter, he was just as quick to show up when someone needed a hand - no jokes, just heart.
John's greatest joy and deepest pride were his two children - his daughter, Shaila, and his son, Nico - whom he loved beyond measure. Their triumphs brought him joy, and their struggles touched him deeply. Through it all, he met every moment with love and encouragement, always showing up for them. In recent years, John cherished the companionship of his girlfriend, Jeannie McLaurin, whose warmth and friendship brightened his days.
He was preceded in death by his treasured grandmother, Natividad "Nati" Bidot, and his dear niece, Amanda Hartley. He is reunited in peace with the many loved ones from the Ferrandino and Bidot families who passed before him.
He is survived by his beloved children, Shaila and Nico Ferrandino, and their mother and close friend, Kiran Kairab Ferrandino; his mother, Nilsa Ferrandino; his father, John Ferrandino; his sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Tom Spadafino; his brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Pat Ferrandino; his nieces, Elizabeth, Julia, and Alexandra Spadafino; his niece, Lynda Lezamiz; his nephew, Andrew Ferrandino; his nephew-in-law, Michael Lezamiz; his great-nephew, Avery Lezamiz; and his girlfriend, Jeannie McLaurin.
John will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. Whether on the soccer field, with his friends, or alongside his family, he gave his whole heart to everything he did and made everyone around him feel truly special. His legacy lives on through his children and in the countless lives he touched with his compassion, strength, and his infectious smile and laughter.
A memorial service will be held at Floris United Methodist Church, 13600 Frying Pan Road, Herndon, Virginia, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. EST. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be streamed at https://www.florisumc.org/celebration-of-life-13/.
