Edward Abrams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Goldfinch Funeral Home - Carolina Forest Chapel - Myrtle Beach on Mar. 3, 2026.
Myrtle Beach…

Dr. Edward M. "Ed" Abrams was born in Conway, SC a son of the late Sidney David Abrams and the late Sylvia Ruth Solomon Abrams. During his growing up years, he spent most summers in Myrtle Beach. He graduated from Conway High School, the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, and the Medical University of South Carolina's School of Dental Medicine in Charleston, SC. In 1974 Ed married Nancy Harris of Greenville, SC.

While growing up, he loved Boy Scouts, and thus became a volunteer as an adult. He served as both a Cub Scout and Webelos leader and helped in other areas. He enjoyed working with wood and fixing things. Of all the activities he loved, fishing and boating were always his favorite.

After being a well respected and successful dentist in Myrtle Beach for about 20 years, Parkinson's disease brought about an early retirement and a change of careers. He opened a sports collectibles shop and enjoyed that for about 10 years. Ed was a member of Temple Emanuel in Myrtle Beach.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nancy H. Abrams of Myrtle Beach, SC; three children, Greg Abrams (Mandy) of Columbia, SC, Justin Abrams (Hita) of Raleigh, NC, and Annie Abrams Rivers (Thomas) of Sumter, SC; seven grandchildren, Camden Abrams (Hayden), Landon Abrams, Hailey Holcomb, Sarah Manning Abrams, Hannah Katherine Abrams, Addison Rivers, and Tabitha Rivers; one brother, Sam Abrams (Eileen) of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several loving nephews and nieces.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Hillcrest Cemetery with Rabbi Avi Perets officiating.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Mary Alice Ingram Chapel, The Manor, Florence, SC with Rev. Jeanie Swanson officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at www.michaeljfox.org or to Temple Sinai Jewish History Center at www.templesinaisumter.org
