Margaret "Meg" Mary McBride was born on June 15, 1959 in Minneapolis, MN. She passed away at her Duluth home on May 14, 2025 after almost a year-long battle with cancer.
Meg was loved by many. She grew up in a family of nine children and remained very close with her family. The years were filled with family celebrations and laughter, and many summers were spent at the family cabin. Numerous fishing openers spent exchanging goofy fish trinkets and barely fishing. The Fourth of July featured boat parades and watermelon races, while Christmas and Thanksgiving filled the house with people. The evenings would never be complete without someone playing the marimba, piano, or guitar and breaking into song. The holidays were filled with good food, stories, music, and laughter.
Meg had a creative and adventurous spirit. A walk through her home would reveal paintings scattered throughout the entire house, with walls that were filled with canvases and color. She loved to travel and did annual trips with her close friends. They ran off to various states and locations to hike, kayak, and ski. She even squeezed in one more girl trip just a month before she passed.
Meg was proceeded in death by her parents, John and Frances McBride; and sisters, Nora and Katie McBride.
Meg is survived by her husband, Dan Spolarich; children, Alicia (Brett) Metzer and Alec (Sadie) Cleary; stepchildren, Adam (Alicia) Spolarich and Ashley (Nathan) Roemer; grandchildren, Quinn, Lofton, and Leo; siblings, Gene (Linda Laird) McBride, Mike (Roz Drew) McBride, Joe (Roz) McBride, Mary (Tom Roloff) McBride, Loowey (Tom Lonnee) McBride, and Annie (Pete Eakman) McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Essentia Hospice team for taking such great care of Meg.
A celebration of life will be held from 3–8 PM on Friday, June 20th at Midway Town Hall, 3230 Midway Rd, Duluth, MN 55810.
