Margaret McGarvie

Margaret McGarvie passed away on July 30, 2025, in Grayslake at the age of 82.
Born to John and Katherine Jenkinson in Chicago, Margaret spent many years raising her family in Deerfield. She had a remarkable gift for conversation and never met a stranger. Her outgoing nature led her to careers where she could connect with others. Over the years, she worked as a dispatcher for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, provided home healthcare for Highland Park Hospital, and was a friendly face at Ernie's Shell Station for over 20 years and, most recently, at the Ace Hardware in Libertyville.
Margaret will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She will be remembered for her loving spirit and her ability to make everyone she met feel like a friend.Margaret is survived by her daughters Virginia (Michael), Sharon (Scott); her grandchildren Samantha, Jonathan, Nicholas, Alyssa (Nate), Mitchell (Taylor), and Marissa; and her great-granddaughter Palmer and another great grandchild coming soon; her brothers John (Ann), Jim (Elana), Joe (Marion) and Tom (Deb); and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
