Margaret McPhee Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 21, 2024.
Our loving mother Margaret McPhee, affectionately known as "Maggie" to others and "Mom" to us, passed away on February19, 2024, at the age of 88. She will always be missed.
Mom had the looks of an Angel, with beautiful blue eyes the color of the clearest blue sky and the deepest ocean. A look into her eyes showed a woman of intelligence, strength, compassion and deep love for everyone she cared about.
Mom spoke like an Angel with her sweet and pleasant English accent. When in conversation with her, she gave her full attention to the person she was speaking to. She did not demand respect she earned dignity and respect by her actions.
She grew up in Northampton, England during World War II. After the war she married our father Sergeant Bernard McPhee and moved to the US in 1956.
As an Army wife, she formed many friendships with other Army wives. They were always there for one another through the good and the hard times. A real sisterhood, they shared a special bond.
She worked many years as a Dental Assistant in El Paso TX, White Sands NM, Ft. Bliss, TX and Schofield Barracks HI. She was living her American Dream.
After our father retired from the Army, they moved to Kauai, HI for his job as a contractor for the Navy. She worked for the Department of Elderly Affairs, implementing a Wellness Program for senior citizens.
She enjoyed the decades they spent living in paradise, she loved the people of Kauai. She spent a lot of her time caring for and helping elderly and needy people. She exuded and received the beautiful Aloha Spirit of Hawaii.
Upon returning to El Paso TX, she was a Vista Volunteer at the Opportunity Center where she really liked working with and getting to know the homeless people at the center.
Our mom started a Red Hat group about 2003, this group later became known as the Desert Stars, a social group of 25 women. This group is still going strong almost 20 years later. This past year she also started a new senior ladies group called, The Lunch Bunch. She was always doing things for others.
She was the ultimate hostess to anyone who stepped into their home. She was a great cook, she made, American, English, Mexican and Oriental dishes. Our house was always the hangout house, several of our friends still consider her as their second mother.
To say she was a generous person was an understatement! As Jesus commands us, she never sought recognition for her many good deeds.
She was creative, she enjoyed arts and crafts. She kept busy making holiday decorations, floral arrangements, and crocheting blankets. She gave many things she made to her family or friends.
She loved her kids with passion. She adored her two grandsons and her five great grandchildren just as much. A sparkle came to her eyes when she caught sight of family or friends.
If you knew Maggie, you were truly blessed by her presence in your life. A true friend you could rely on, she made others more important than herself.
Mom had many friends who loved and admired her just as our family does. Her friends described her as sweet, caring, fun loving, humorous, generous, loyal, classy and sometimes outspoken.
Mom was very spiritual. During her sunset, Mom passed through the Gates of Heaven to be granted eternal life with our Lord, she has peace and happiness. We will see her again.
Mom, we love you and miss you every day!
Your Children,
Michael, Robert, and Marie
