Margaret Meyer Obituary

Meyer, Margaret Florence (Midge), - 84, of Mays Landing, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her four children on September 6, 2022. Born June 8, 1938 in Jersey City, N.J., Midge previously resided in Fords and Bayonne, N.J. A graduate of Holy Family Academy in Bayonne, she was a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators and most recently employed by Foxman, Foxman, and Margolis Associates in Northfield, N.J. until her retirement in 2016. Prior to that Midge was employed by The Santamaria Eye Institute in Perth Amboy, N.J. and Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, N.J. Midge was a kind, lively, sunny, cheerful, and optimistic presence to all who knew and loved her. Her meatballs and weekend pool parties were renowned. Survivors include a brother, Arthur Burke of Pawley's Island, S.C., four children, Robert O'Connell of Metuchen, N.J., Joann Abranowicz of Burlington, N.J., Susan Yashenko of Mays Landing, N.J., and William Abranowicz III of Margaretville, NY; two stepchildren, Robert Meyer, Jr. of Egg Harbor, N.J. and Katie Read of Boston, Ma.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Midge was preceded in death by husbands, Robert Meyer, Sr., Joseph Lohli, and William Abranowicz, Jr. A private memorial is scheduled. Contributions in Midge's honor may be made to Gilda's Club of South Jersey in Linwood, N.J. Arrangements by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, Linwood - Ventnor.
