Margaret E. Northrop "Peggy" of Erin, NY passed away Monday, November 3, 2025 at Robert Packer Hospital, nearing her 90th birthday. Born to the late Lucy Alvarez Beals and Howard Beals in Lackawanna, NY on November 8, 1935. She was the second oldest of seven.
She is predeceased by her sister Rosemary Beals and Cynthia Johnson Shelvay; brother James Beals; and stepfather Russell M. Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory are her sisters Mary Beals, LaDonna Johnson Bala and Yvonne Johnson; her husband of 69 years Richard S. Northrop Sr.; children Debra (Keith) Northrop Hulett, Richard (Robert) Northrop Jr., Stephen Northrop, Bonnie (Melquiades) Northrop Mora and James (Alison) Northrop; grandchildren Rebekah (Mitchell) McCarthy, Elizabeth Hulett, Anna Hulett, Kristen (Sean O'Laughlin) Northrop, Ryan (Erin) Northrop, Jennifer Northrop, Katie Northrop and Daniel Mora; 7 great grandchildren and 10 nieces and nephews.
Peggy had a passion for bowling and was on three senior bowling leagues for many years, two at Dixie Lanes and one at Rossi Lanes. She was a homemaker for many years before becoming a teacher's aid at Broad Street School in Special Education, loving all the children she worked with.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Breesport Baptist Church, 1811 N. Chemung Rd, Breesport, on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 2 pm – 4 pm with a memorial service to follow at 4 pm. Pastor Doug Forman to officiate.
