Margaret Novess I.

NOVESS, Margaret Irene- of Birch Run, age 100, died Sunday, May 15, 2022. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Friday, May 20, 2022, at Ss. Francis and Clare Parish- 12157 Church St. in Birch Run. Rev. Fr. Thomas McNamara celebrant. The family will receive visitors Thursday, May 19, 2022, at O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run from 12PM until 7PM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7PM, Thursday evening, at the funeral home. Then Friday, May 20, 2022, additional visitation will occur at the church from 10AM until the time of mass. Burial will follow at Birch Run Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Birch Run VFW, Ss Francis and Clare Parish of Birch Run, the Commission of Aging Saginaw County-Meals on Wheels, or the Association of the Blind.
Margaret was born July 19, 1921, in Birch Run, to the late Michael and Lena (Szecsodi) Kacsor. She graduated from Birch Run with the class of 1938. Margaret then worked as a Candy Striper at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint. She went on to work at AC Spark Plug where she met her future husband. On May 16, 1942, she married the love of her life, Frank Novess, and together they raised six children. Frank preceded Margaret in death in 1983. Margaret worked for Birch Run Elementary School as a cafeteria worker for 30 plus years and was a longtime member of the Birch Run VFW and Ss. Francis and Clare Parish. She was an avid gardener and could not resist a good garage sale. Margaret enjoyed good conversations with family and friends. Above all, Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family wishes an extended thank you to Margaret's wonderful caregiver, Susanne Olsen, for her compassion and companionship.
Margaret is forever loved by children: Paul (Elysia) Novess, Don Novess, Ann (John) Eagan, Liz (Mark) Colpean, and Mary (Jerry) Wellman; Grandchildren: Jessica (Brian), Stephanie (Nick), Brittany (Johnny), Derek, Andrew, Megan, Joey, Kyle, and Kevin; Great-grandchildren: Gianna, Paxton, Tristan, Grayson, Viktor, Henley, Preston, and Miller; Daughter-in-law: Andrea Fortunado; Sister-in-law: Barbara (Larry) Launstein; Close friends: Pat Payer, Mary Thamm, Maggie Pfleger and Peter Kleinebreil; Special Nephews: Michael (Sharon) Costello and Barry (Lorrie) Smalley; Dear family friends: Val (Connie) Muth. Margaret was preceded in death by: Parents, Michael and Lena Kacsor; Husband, Frank; Son, Tom Novess; Daughter-in-law, Theresa Novess; Brothers: Paul Kacsor and Steve Kacsor; Sisters: Helen Sommers and Julia Costello.
