Margaret A. (Childs) O'Byrne, age 71, of Vestaburg passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home. She was born August 21, 1953, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Billy and Gladys (Neff) Childs. She was a 1972 graduate of Everett High School in Lansing. After graduation Margaret worked for 20 years at the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Lansing. Deciding to make a career change she worked for Elexco Title Company, serving in Pennsylvania and New York, before her retirement. Margaret enjoyed making crafts, and most recently had been making beautiful, beaded jewelry.
Margaret is survived by two daughters Elizabeth and Brenda Michels; granddaughter Coral Holmes; three brothers William (Shirley) Childs, Tony (Denise) Childs, Paul (Lori) Childs; sister-in-law Colleen O'Byrne;and special cousins Mary Bollinger, Phyllis Rollinson and Russell Clark.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael O'Byren; her parents; and siblings Daniel Childs and Mary Ann Smith.
A memorial visitation for Margaret will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 4-7 pm at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma. A family time for sharing memories and a time of prayer will begin at 6:30 pm on Friday to conclude visitation.
