Margaret Ann Ostrom, born on January 6, 1932, in Leland, Illinois, passed away on November 6, 2025, at the DeKalb County Nursing Home, surrounded by loved ones. She was a cherished member of her family and community, known for her warmth and kindness.
Margaret was the daughter of Lewis H. and Vada Ellen (Blythe) Coultrip. On February 10, 1950, she married her beloved husband, Walter Dean Ostrom, in Elburn, Illinois. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion to one another until his passing.
A devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Somonauk, IL, Margaret was actively involved in her church and community, leaving a lasting impact on those around her. She enjoyed raising her children, baking especially apple pies. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and even traveling to Iowa for a good breakfast at "Iowa Machine Shed". She also enjoyed garage sales and coffee with her sisters. She is survived by her children, Michael D. (Sandy) Ostrom, Linda (Archie) Eastabrooks, Helen (David) Goddard, Melody Benjamin, Nickie (Tom) Marsh, Dawn (Steve) Graves, Starr (Ron) Peterson, and Sharon (Bob) Miller. Margaret also leaves behind her sisters, Mary Ellen McDowell and Helen (Ben) Kerr as well as 16 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who were a source of great pride and joy.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter Dean Ostrom in 1999, and one son, Kenneth Ostrom, one grandson, Tim Peterson, one brother, Rex Coultrip.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 10, 2025 will begin at 12:30 PM and conclude at 2:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:30 PM with Pastor Matt Conrad officiating. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Memorials may be directed to DeKalb County Nursing Home.
