Margaret "Margy" Ann Stevens Poggemiller, 91, of Burlington, died at Klein Center on Tuesday afternoon, August 12, 2025.
Born on July 25, 1934, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Owen and Madelyn Stevens. On July 26, 1958, she married DeWayne Poggemiller.
Margy was a 1953 graduate of Burlington Catholic School. She danced for Hazel-Mack studios and worked at Sylvania before her marriage to DeWayne. Margy was a lifelong member of Divine Mercy Parish and a member of Divine Mercy Parish St. Theresa Circle. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed several doll outfits. Margy also designed and created sweatshirts for her business, Margy's Shirts and More. She served as a 4-H leader and always was consistent in donating blood. DeWayne and her loved to dance. She enjoyed reading and taking vacations, especially camping trips with her family and their close friends. Spending time with her family brought her the most joy but she loved nothing more than to make beautiful, fond memories with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, DeWayne; four children: Steve (Tara) Poggemiller of Burlington, Deanna (Bill McCarl) Wiberg of Burlington, Kathy (David) Baker of Morning Sun and Mike (Christa) Poggemiller of Burlington; ten grandchildren: Brandon Bedenbender of New York, Ashley (Bill) Manning of Mattoon, Illinois, Emily Baker of Tiffin, Iowa, Danielle (Lewis) Lasauskas of Silverdale, Washington, Kyle (Alix McPherson) Baker of Mt Pleasant, Iowa, Jake (Paige) Poggemiller of Burlington, Clayton Poggemiller of Burlington, Andrew Poggemiller of Madison, Wisconsin, Michael (Elisa) Poggemiller of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Taylor Poggemiller of Waukee, Iowa; five great grandchildren: Tauren Poggemiller, Charlie, Jack and Patrick Manning and Florence Poggemiller; two step great grandchildren: Liam and Lilah McPherson; sister Pat (Doug) Reed of North Liberty, Iowa and brother Joe (Barb) Stevens of Burlington. Also surviving is one sister in-law Esther (Jim) Witte of Lake Havasu, Arizona and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Alice Corso and Mary Kelly and three brothers: Tom Stevens, Ownie Stevens and Stanley Stevens.
The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025, at St. John Catholic Church in Burlington with Father Jake Greiner as celebrant. A rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at St. John Catholic Church, followed by the visitation till 7:00 p.m. where the family will meet with friends.
Interment will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her memory for Sacred Heart Cemetery or Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Home Hospice.
