Margaret "Peggy" Quackenbush

Margaret "Peggy" Quackenbush passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 89 in Carmel, NY. Born on May 3, 1936 in Yonkers, NY, Peggy was the cherished daughter of the late Richard and Mary Flynn and the beloved sister to Samuel and the late Richard and Louise.

Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Frederick, and is survived by their three loving children; Theresa Wind, Steven Quackenbush, and Susan Weeks; her grandchildren Marianne, Patricia, Pamela, Leanne, Brian, Matthew and step-grandchild Daniel; two great grandchildren, Madison and Ezra; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Peggy was a devout Catholic and gave generously of her time and through charitable donations. She was the keeper of family memories and ancestry. She enjoyed social gatherings and travel; simple lunch with friends, and day trips to casinos brought her joy.

She was a long-time member of the Columbiettes and the Red Hat Club. Peggy loved to read and enjoyed crocheting blankets for her friends and family. Those pieces were as much of her legacy as was her infectious laugh.

Margaret "Peggy" Quackenbush will be remembered not just for the life she lived, but for the love she gave and the happiness she brought to so many. Her legacy will continue to live on through the cherished memories of her family and the countless lives she touched with her warm and generous heart.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4 , 2025 at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.

Concluding the visitation, a Prayer Service to celebrate Peggy's life will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home.

Following the Service, Peggy will be escorted to her final resting place where she will be entombed with her beloved husband, Frederick, at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley, NY.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made in memory of Margaret "Peggy" Quackenbush to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
