Passed away peacefully on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the age of 93. She was born on June 3, 1932 in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph Smart and Peggy Taylor Smart. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Lee Ross, son Lawrence Ross and numerous aunts and uncles.

Margaret is survived by her two children, Charles "Chuck" (Deb) Ross of Bloomsburg, PA and Ela Guilfoile of Bressport, NY; grandsons, Timothy Thompson of Horseheads, NY, Matthew Ross of Bloomsburg, PA; granddaughters, Rebecca Merryfield of Geneva, NY, Jennifer (Justin) Right of Nescopeck, PA; great-grandsons, Timothy Thompson III and Landon Thompson of Horseheads, NY and numerous extended family members and friends.

Margaret and her husband Charles were married in 1954 and were married for 26 years until his passing in 1980. She was a loving military wife and worked as childcare worker on McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. She was a longtime New York Yankees fan, an avid reader, and loved going to the beach and dancing with her husband. She was also a very loving and devoted grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother to her entire family, known affectionately by all as "GG".

The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St, at Route 13, Horseheads, New York, 14845 for calling hours from 1-3pm on Thursday, September 4th, 2025. Those wishing to remember Margaret, please consider donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Foundation for the Blind in her memory.
