Margaret Rinkel Sanderlin

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family announces the loss of Margaret "Maggie" Sanderlin of Elizabeth City, NC. Margaret passed away on February 11, 2025 after a valiant battle against diabetes.
Margaret's family will remember her dedication to taking care of all those she loved. Any reason for a cookout or celebration, resulted in copious amounts of food, always cooked from scratch. Her giving spirit was shown through the countless hours spent preparing meals and celebrations for others. Those in her circle could feel a sense of safety and security knowing that she would always do whatever was necessary to ensure those she loved were cared for. Margaret also enjoyed fishing, auctions, and scratch off tickets.
Margaret spent many years working in local nursing homes, showing the same love and compassion in the care she gave her patients. She was known to take it upon herself to take the elderly at these homes as her own family, purchasing needed items, recognizing their birthdays, and organizing events to bring them happiness in their final years.
Remaining to cherish Margaret's memory are her two children, Angela Jacobi and husband Drew of Killeen, TX, and Jeffrey Sanderlin and wife Katelan of Elon, NC; ex-husband Jeff Sanderlin of Belvidere, NC; sisters, Cindy Phipps, Billy Jo Decker, and Stella Duhaime; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the true joys of her life, her grandchildren, Isabella, Allison, Lillian, and Kallie, all of whom she loved beyond words. Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Lotus Rinkel and father, Emmett Talmadge.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Twiford Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Joseph Turner officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives immediately following the service in the chapel.
