Margaret Shubnell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fitzgerald-Sommer Funeral Home - Yardley on Dec. 1, 2025.
Margaret "Peggy" (Walsh) Shubnell, of Lower Makefield, PA, died on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA. She was 89.

Peggy was born in Trenton, NJ, to the late John and Alice (Winder) Walsh. Peggy, formerly of Northville, MI, and Palm Coast, FL, had been a Lower Makefield resident for the past twelve years. A graduate of Hamilton High School West and Chestnut Hill College, where she earned her B.A. in Spanish, Peg was retired from United Airlines, where she managed the Reservations Center at Dearborn, MI.

It was in Michigan that she met and married her husband of 37 years, Paul Shubnell. A lifelong Mets fan, Peggy became a Detroit Tigers fan as well. She and Paul visited every major league ballpark across the country. A loyal and meticulous fan, Peg kept a scorebook at each game they attended. Their travel extended across the globe, but a favorite destination was Hawaii. Known for her exquisite needlework, Peg's thoughtful generosity lives on in the many beautiful gifts she created for family and friends. Over the years, Peg also shared her love of music and gift of song in the choirs of the parishes to which she belonged.

Peggy is predeceased by her husband Paul Shubnell, and her brother John Walsh.

She is survived by her brother Jim Walsh and sister-in-law Monica, sister-in-law Lucy Walsh, her husband Paul's children Michael, Steven, and Christine, her granddaughter Casie, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 8, 2025, at 11:30am, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church 81 Swamp Road Newtown, PA 18940. Calling hours will be from 10:30am to 11:30am at the church. Interment will follow in St. Ignatius Cemetery, River Road, Yardley, PA 19067.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to either Chandler Hall Hospice 99 Barclay Street Newtown, PA 18940, or to a charity of the donor's choosing.
