Margaret Higdon "Bebe" Smith

Margaret "Bebe" Higdon Smith, 84, died peacefully on November 20th, 2025.

Born September 5th, 1941, in Quincy, Florida, she graduated from Quincy High School and then earned her degree from Converse College. In 1963, Bebe married Bill Smith and by 1970 they had made Tallahassee their home.

She was a member of the Violets Garden Circle, Junior League of Tallahassee, and the Cotillion Club of Tallahassee and any active member of her church.

She was preceded in death by her husband William Mitchell Smith, her parents Lynette McAlpin Higdon and Joseph Warren Higdon and her brother James Jackson Higdon.

Bebe is survived by her daughter Margaret (William) Lamb, son Richard Smith, stepdaughter Garrett (Eddie) Bell, and her brother Joe (Carolyn) Higdon. She was the proud grandmother to Will and Molly Lamb, Helen, Lucy, and Rich Smith, Haley (Sam) Huffstutter, and Emilee (Zach) Cronin.

A service is planned for 11am on Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, at St. Peter's Anglican Cathedral, 4784 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Children's Home Society of Florida ( https://chsfl.org/donate/) or the William Ralston Music Listening Library at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tennessee.
