Margaret J. (Peggy) Stewart of Johnstown passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Albany Medical Center. Peggy was a lifelong resident of Johnstown. She was pre-deceased by her parents Frank and Mattie Stewart, as well as all her siblings: Dorothy Colby, Frank Stewart Jr., John Stewart, Nina Kozdra and Maguerite Willis.
Peggy was a graduate of Johnstown High School. After graduation she spent many years working for Conroy Gloves in Johnstown as a secretary. She also had a meaningful career and retired as a secretary for BOCES Alternative Education.
She was a member of the former First United Methodist Church of Johnstown for many years serving as a lay minister, trustee and choir member. Peggy was also a member of the Johnstown Women of the Moose. Before and after retirement she enjoyed playing bingo and playing nickel slots at Turning Stone. At home she enjoyed word-search puzzles and watching cooking shows. Her holiday applesauce bread and chex mix will be missed by all who enjoyed them over the years. She also enjoyed spoiling everyone's pets.
Loved ones surviving her include Nephews: Frank Colby (Trudi), Michael Stewart (Suzanne), Nieces: Sherri Ryan (Timothy), Susan Fox (Gene), Terri Horning (Lee), Great Niece: Racquel Monroe (Nathan) and Great Nephew: Colton Ryan.
A memorial service burial will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY 12095.
Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
