Schertz Funeral Home and Crematory - SchertzMargaret “Peggy” Streton, 86, of Schertz, Texas, formerly of Johnsonville, New York, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 10, 2025.
Peggy was married for 65 years to her devoted husband, Carlo Streton. Together they built a life filled with love and family. Peggy was the proud mother of two sons: Scott Streton (Pam) of Schertz, TX, and Mark Streton (Michele) of North Kingstown, RI. Peggy cherished her grandchildren, Justin Streton (Gabby) of Cibolo, TX, Aaron Streton of San Antonio, TX, and Samantha Streton of Chicago, IL, who brought her immense joy throughout her life.
Peggy and Carlo lived for 60 years in Johnsonville, New York, before moving to Texas where they resided with their eldest son, Scott, and his wife, Pam.
A registered nurse for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy, NY (now part of Samaritan Hospital), Peggy was known for her compassion and dedication to caring for others. Outside of work, when not spending time with her family and grandchildren, Peggy loved to read and do crossword puzzles. Peggy will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and deep love for her family.
Born February 3,1939 to Bernard and Loretta Geren of Valley Falls, New York, Peggy was the eldest of ten children, a large and loving family. Peggy is predeceased by her parents and her siblings Rita Dygert (Tom), Patricia Wanko (Steve deceased), and Mary Ryan (Mike deceased). She is survived by her siblings Bernie Geren (Marylou, deceased), Helen Akin (Wayne, deceased), Frank Geren (Lisa), Thomas Geren (Joanne, deceased), Bobby Geren (Marcia), and Ann St. Gelais (Jimmy, deceased).
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Schertz Funeral Homes, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX 78154. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:45 p.m.
For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed and available to view on Peggy's obituary page.
