Margaret Ellen Stringer

Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and NANA to everyone she knew. Margaret Ellen Stringer, age 102, of Hopatcong, New Jersey, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 21, 2023 at her home while surrounded by her loving family.
Margaret was born in the Bronx, New York to the late Hugh and Margaret McHale. She moved to New Jersey in 1957 where she raised her two daughters and then her granddaughter. A hard-working woman, Margaret was employed as a bank manager at Valley National Bank for 45 years prior to her final retirement in 2001 at 80 years old.
Margaret was an active member at the Hopatcong Senior Center, where she enjoyed socializing and doing puzzles. Outside the senior center, Margaret found joy in spending time with her family, traveling, slot machines and scratch offs and making sure she never missed a moment.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Ann Squires; two granddaughters, Debra Carson and Jennifer Squires; her great granddaughter, Kayla Carson, great grandson, Jack Carson; nephew and godson, Thomas Sullivan and wife Julianna; nieces, Ginger McHale, Gayle Zachar and husband Steven and her great niece and nephew, Stephanie and Daniel Zachar. In addition to her parents, Margaret is preceded in death by her brother Hugh, sister Muriel, daughter Lois, grandson Ricky and her dear friend Jack.
A committal service will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:30AM in the Chapel of Stanhope Union Cemetery, 69 Love Lane, Stanhope, New Jersey 07874. Services entrusted to Morgan Funeral Home, 31 Main St, Netcong NJ 07857. Condolences may be sent to: NetcongFuneral.com
