Obituary
Margaret 'Peggy' Jane Stygar passed away on Thursday June 15th with her family at her side. She fought a courageous and dignified battle with MDS. She was 74 years old. Born on February 11, 1949, in
Bellows Falls, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret O'Neill. She has been predeceased by her brother Harry O'Neill. She married her husband, Glenn, on July 29, 1972, and they made their home in Lebanon where they raised their three children. She will be missed by her devoted husband of more than 50 years. She will be remembered with love by her three children, daughter Carrie Prodhan, son Jonathan Stygar and his wife Amy, and daughter Amy DeMichele and her husband, Shaun. She also leaves behind her most cherished grandchildren whom she always referred to as the "Joy of her Life," Leela Prodhan, Jayden and Jordan Stygar and Mackenzie and Jake DeMichele. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas O'Neill and his wife Laurie Alberts, sister Madeline Lewis, and sister Mary Ellen Haseltine and her husband Matthew and her sister-in-law, Mary O'Neill wife of late Harry O'Neill. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Christine Romanchuck and her husband, Michael, and her brother-in-law, Timothy Stygar and his wife, Kristina and many dearly beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins along with many dear friends. A 1967 graduate of Windham High School and a 1969 graduate of Northampton Junior College. Peggy worked as a Real Estate Paralegal for the law firm of Kalom & Borst in Hebron. She will be remembered as being kind and considerate to others and always having a smile for everyone and a willingness to help regardless of the task. She enjoyed gardening and baking. The cookie jar was always full, and guests would always go directly to the jar for a treat. In later years, Peggy developed a love for scrapbooking and was in the process of creating heirloom books for her grandchildren having recently completed keepsake books for her adult children. She was devoted to her family. One of her happiest events was hosting the Christmas Eve gathering for the entire family for more than 50 years. The guest list continued to grow as the family became larger. The happiest times for Peggy and her family were the family reunions spent at Camp Wabbaquassett in Eastford for the last 60 years. She also loved attending her grandchildren's sporting and school events. After retirement in her later years, she and her husband took to traveling to such places as Acadia National Park, Alaska, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore. The two celebrated every moment together and enjoyed life. Peggy was an active communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon where she had served on several committees including tending the gardens, supporting the Ladies Guild in some of their projects, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and participated in creating the seasonal banners for the pulpit. She also served on the Board of Directors at the Card Home for the Aged for several years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 22 at 9AM at Aurora – McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road,
Colchester, CT followed by services at St. Francis of Assisi Church Guardian Angles Parish, 67 West Town Street, Lebanon with burial at the North Lebanon Cemetery.
