Margaret Ann Vandiver

Margaret Ann “Nan” Vandiver, age 82, passed away peacefully, on December 4, 2024 at Maury Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Ann, the daughter of the late James and Josephine Grooms, was born January 8, 1942. She graduated from Hay Long High School in 1960, and in the years after graduating she worked as a secretary at the Mt. Pleasant Ice Factory and later at Mt. Pleasant Manufacturing as a seamstress and inspector.

Ann and her husband, Horace Allen Vandiver, were married on August 25, 1961, and have been together for 63 years.

She loved spending time with her family, gardening, going to yard sales and sewing. Ann enjoyed sewing blankets, doll clothes and other things that she would donate to local schools and charities to help those in need. She was always putting everyone before herself and instilled the “golden rule” in her family.

Ann is survived by her husband, Allen Vandiver; children: James Wayne “Buster” (Janet) Vandiver, and Tammy Annette (Garry) McPeak; six grandchildren: Jared Ayers (Diana Himes), Cameron (Christina) McCanless, Trenton Vandiver (Jerry Wayne Bailey), Zachary (Kaitlin) McPeak, Colton (Ashley) McPeak, and Peyton Vandiver (Hannah Pangle); 12 great-grandchildren; sister: Lisa “Sissy” Tate; special great-nephew Chase Cole; sister-in-law: Laticia Grooms; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved dog Rocky.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son: Horace Allen “Nunior” Vandiver Jr., and brother: William “Buddy” Grooms.

Ann was a member of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee with Pastor Mike Gillock. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Ann will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be Jared Ayers, Cameron McCanless, Trenton Vandiver, Zachary McPeak, Colton McPeak, and Peyton Vandiver.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brittany Potts, Ricky Seagraves, Christopher “Boo” Boshers, and Amos McCoy.

The family would like to give a special thank you to caregivers Melinda Hodge, Kay Lott, Compassus Hospice, Dr. Ben Gardner, and her nurses from the 3rd D nurses’ station at Maury Regional Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
