Mrs. Margaret Jane Ward Smith, 89, of Kirkland Road in Brewton, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025, in a local nursing home after a brief illness. She was a native of Double Springs, and a long time resident of Brewton.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the North Brewton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, and was a retired Home Economics teacher from W.S. Neal High School.
She is survived by two sons, Jeff (Lisa Michelle) Smith of Madison, and Chris Michael Smith of Dothan; two grandchildren, Garrett Blake (Taylor) Smith and Colleen Allison Perez; Tucker King, and one great-grandchild, Reina Maisie Perez, Daughter-In-Law- Teresa Rhodes Smith of Hartselle, Alabama
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtle Cornelious Ward; Husband- James Albert "Smitty" Smith, and a son, James Timothy Smith,
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 6:00 p.m.. until 7:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Saturday morning, July 12, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Liberty Grove Baptist Church with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 7:00 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Joshua Doss officiating. Interment will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 following 11:00 a.m. services in Liberty Cemetery in Haleyville.
Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
