Margaret Ann Wells

Margaret Ann Wells of Centerville, Iowa passed away September 4, 2023 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa at the age of 86.
Margaret was born June 30, 1937 in Centerville, Iowa to Marion and Janie (Bubang) Kauzlarich. She was raised on a farm east of Cincinnati and always referred to herself as a "tomboy". She graduated from Cincinnati High School in 1955.
Her first job was a bookkeeper at Farmer's Exchange in Centerville and that's where she met the love of her life, Clive Wells. Their first date was meeting at a dance which led to their marriage on July 27, 1957. They were blessed with four boys; Jeff, Joel, Josh, and Jon.
As a farm wife and mother, she was strong, capable, and tireless, always striving for the best for her family. She was a great cook and enjoyed passing on her cooking "secrets" to her daughter-in-law's and granddaughters - especially with the Croatian favorites and Christmas treats. Neighbor kids delighted in her popcorn balls at Halloween and spritz cookies and candies during the holidays.
Margaret was also noted for her "green thumb" and having beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.
After the boys were raised she began working outside the home at Hiatt Insurance agency and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville in the dietary and physical therapy departments.
Clive and Margaret enjoyed spending time together bowling, dancing, and playing cards with friends and family. Later in life they enjoyed traveling. They spent countless hours attending their children and grandchildren's sporting events and other activities.
Margaret has been an active member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. She also is a member of ODO club, GEG, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the 1880 Club.
Left to cherish Margaret's memory is her husband of 66 years, Clive Wells; her children, Jeff (Diana)Wells, Joel (Bonita) Wells and Jon (Misty) Wells; her daughter-in-law, Darla Wells; her grandchildren, Mindy (Ty) Doggett, Maggie (Cody) Lindsey, Mitchell (Kelsey) Wells, Gabe (Caitlin) Wells, Jocelyn Wells, Nathan (Jessica) Wells, Nolan (Kelsey) Wells, Seth Wells, Stephen Wells, Riley Wells and Harper Wells; along with fifteen great-grandchildren and several extended family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Josh Wells; and her parents Marion and Janie Kauzlarich.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM, Thursday, September 7, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Fr. Timothy Armbruster, C.P.P.S. officiating. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery, west of Centerville. Visitation will take place Thursday, September 7, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 11:00AM-1:00PM.
