Margaret K. Whalen (Pickering) "Peggy" 83, of Abington, died on March 13, 2020 after a period of failing health. Peggy was born in Haverhill, Daughter of the late William and Katherine (Gately) Pickering. She was raised and educated in there graduating from Haverhill High School. Mrs. Whalen worked for over 20 years at Bradley's Store corporate offices in Braintree as a payroll clerk. She was a resident of Abington for over 50 years and enjoyed giving of her time as a volunteer at Abington's North School for over a decade. Peggy was a member of The Abington Senior Center where she was a founder of their Bingo Nights. She loved to dance, especially with her beloved late Husband. Peggy was the Wife of the late John "Jack" Whalen. Mother of, Johnna M. Whalen of Abington, Thomas Whalen of MA and the late Martin P. Whalen. Sister of the late, J. Edward Pickering, Thomas Pickering and William J. Pickering. Grandmother of Hillary A. Whalen of TN. Great-Grandmother of Jaime Whalen of TN. The Whalen family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Peggy's life on Wednesday March 18, 2020 from 8:00-8:30 AM in The Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow in The St. Bridget's Church in Abington at 9:00 AM. Services will be followed by cremation. Donations in Peggy's name may be made to The Alzheimer's Association of MA, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
