Obituary
"Give her of the fruit of her hands; And let her own works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:31
Margarite (Margie) Glover Nettles was born in Alamance County on April 29, 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mable Glover, her brother Thomas Earl Foust, and her husband Orin Lee Nettles, nephew Ken Glover and grandson Lale Hanner. Margie was a phenomenal mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Cody and Tyler were her heartbeats and could do no wrong her mind.
Margie was a faithful and active member of Harris Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the deaconess board and kitchen committee until her health failed. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and her adopted children.
Margie loved people; especially her family. She was the matriarch of our family and shared her wisdom and life lessons with those whom she felt needed to hear one of her testimonies. She would always call and check on her family and extended family to make sure they were doing well or if she could do anything for them. If she could do anything for anyone, she did not hesitate to help others. Margie loved the beach and would go every opportunity she would get to go on her girls' trip! She enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and let's not forget about her hen and chicks that she would share with those who ask for one! She was known for always being dressed to impress in her high heels, and her signature hairstyles. She often would let her girls play in her heels and her makeup; that was one of her fondest memories to often speak of when talking about our childhood. She was definitely the glue that held us all together for so many years. She worked at Collins & Aikman for many years where she met people that became her lifelong friends. She loved to cook, shop, do word searches, watch Steve Harvey on the Family Feud show, and spend time with family and friends. Everyone loved for her to bring food to events. She was known for her potato salad and coconut pies. She loved to cook for her neighbors at the Pine Glades Community, because she felt food always will bring family and friends together.
Margie transitioned this life on Friday, August 25, 2023. She leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories; her children: son, Dennis Glover (Cathy) of Siler City, NC, daughters Angela Scotton (Rev. Joseph Scotton) of Robbins, NC, Monica Marsh (Brian) of Siler City, NC. Her siblings: Brother, Herbert Glover of Greensboro NC, Sisters, Carolyn Brown of Asheboro, NC, Flossie Newby (Steve) of Siler City, NC, Sister-in-law, Mary De Lois Nettles (Bobby) of Haw River, NC, Cheryl Nettles of Siler City, NC and brother-in-law Wallace Nettles of Chapel Hill, NC. Grandchildren; Cody Nettles (Madison) and Tyler Brewer (Felicia); her great grandchild, Aspen Kate Nettles. Her adopted children who she loved as her own; Jackie Milliken, Tyrone Hanner (Mona), Michelle Hanner, and Harvey Hanner, Robie Johnson; adopted grandchildren; Michael Anthony, Tuli Hanner, Scooter McLaughlin, Sanesha Alston, Mario Hanner, and Shatoya Hanner, Nina Newby, Felicia Wiley, Nevon Wiley; her godchildren: Lynn Johnson of Siler City; and Jarvis Cheek of Charlotte, NC. Nephews; Joey Glover, Morris Glover, Robert Taylor, Derrick Glover, Denorris Glover, Anthony Shoffner, Nieces; Lisa Glover, Tracy Kirby, Herlena Glover, Melissa Glover, and Abigail Thorton. Her lifelong friends: Rebecca Clapp, Paulette Scotton, Mary Lois Cotton, Ella Martin Milliken, and Robin Lee. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and love ones that will have many memories for her to live on in our hearts. Thank you to the Dialysis team at
Siler City Dialysis center, to her Pine Glades community, Chatham Transit & employees, & her church family.
