Margery (Rosenquist) Singleton, aged 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 5th, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of service, education, and passion for history.
Raised in Camas, Washington, Margery's love for learning led her to earn a degree from Central Washington University, where she met her future husband, Bill.
She taught in the Longview School district before she and Bill moved to East Wenatchee to start their family. Years later, she returned to teaching as a substitute in both the Eastmont and Wenatchee school districts.
In 1972, Margery joined the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, marking the beginning of a lifetime of service. For 18 years, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Additionally, she generously gave her time to organizations such as the VFW, Confluence Hospital, and Central Washington Museum. Throughout the years she taught English as a second language, made lunches for forest firefighters, served on the PTA, manned the snack bar at VFW bingo, and sold incalculable cups of coffee during fund raisers at Nason Creek rest area.
Margery's talents were many and she was an accomplished crafter and gardener who loved refinishing furniture. Her greatest passions were quilting and hunting for antiques and collectibles.
She enjoyed travel, camping, and American history and for many years combined all three during Civil War reenactments where she was often found in camp demonstrating how to make rope.
Margery was preceded in death by her husband Bill, sister Janet, and brother Terry. She is survived by her daughter Anne Singleton, brother Donn Rosenquist, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends, and her beloved dog, Grommet.
