Obituary of Margie Lee Dirr
Margie Mills Dirr, life-long resident, of Independence, KY, passed away Friday, July 19, 2024, at her residence, one day shy of her 88 birthday. She was a faithful member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Independence, KY her entire life. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting the casino, and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Whether that was being at home with her children and their families, attending her grandchildren's events and activities, or finding entertainment and "mischief" with her sisters, family meant everything to her. Margie's beloved husband, Eugene Dirr, preceded her in death, in January of 2014, after 57 years of marriage. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Charles and Celia Collopy Mills, and her daughter-in-law, Laurie Nelson Dirr. She is survived by her children, Michael Dirr (Mary), Jeanne Schulte (Dave), Lisa Lehkamp (Jeff), Steve Dirr (Melissa); sisters, Pat Holten, Norma Branch, Shirley Martin; grandchildren, Sara Schulte, Samantha Schulte, Stefanie Schulte, Megan Gabriel (Seth), Nick Schulte (Nikki), McKenzie Dirr-Montgomery (Jordan), David Dirr (Jess), Daniel Dirr, Garret Lehkamp, Rachel Lehkamp, Andrea Dirr, Eric Dirr, Julia Dirr, and Michael Dirr; and great-grandchildren, Jax Schulte, Max Schulte, Luna Schulte, and Reese Gabriel. Visitation for Margie will be Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 5313 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051.
